These pens are much a much smoother writing pen than ball points. The writing "ball" of the refill is much more refined and usually made of different materials including ceramic. Due to the properties of Roller Ball pens, they need to be capped to protect them from drying out. Roller Balls are two-piece pens. Most can be posted (cap goes on the end of the writing piece).
